The AT-802U Sky Warden, manufactured by L3Harris Technologies and Air Tractor, was chosen by U.S. Special Operations Command for its Armed Overwatch programme, it was announced on Monday. According to an announcement from L3Harris on Monday, the deal for indefinite delivery and indefinite quantity could be valued up to $3 billion. A $170 million programme contract was initially awarded. The Armed Overwatch programme of Air Force Special Operations Command seeks to create a fleet of up to 75 adaptable fixed-wing aircraft that can be deployed to hostile environments and require little maintenance in terms of logistics. As AFSOC’s Armed Overwatch plane, the single-engine Sky Warden is being designed by SOCOM to be capable of performing close air support, armed intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, as well as precision strikes, for counterterrorism operations and irregular warfare.

The Beechcraft AT-6E Wolverine has received Military Type Certification (MTC) from the United States Air Force, according to a Textron Aviation Defense announcement.
