The MoD and M/s BEL, present today, signed the deal. The contract is expected to cost around INR 1993 Cr altogether. By supplying IAF fighter aircraft with cutting-edge EW systems, the IAF will be better able to conduct operational operations against the airborne and ground-based fire control and surveillance radars of its enemies. BAE Systems and L3Harris Technologies delivered the first EC-37B Compass Call electronic warfare aircraft to the United States Air Force. According to BAE Systems, the Air Force will soon begin combined developmental and operational testing for the Compass Call, the first of ten aircraft planned for the Air Force. The new EC-37B fleet will replace Air Combat Command’s decades-old EC-130 fleet, which is being phased out. BAE manufactures the new Compass Call’s electronic attack components in Hudson, New Hampshire, and L3Harris integrates that mission-specific hardware into a Gulfstream G550 business jet in Waco, Texas. The Compass Call will conduct electronic warfare missions to jam enemy signals such as communications, radar, and navigation systems. According to BAE, this will include suppressing enemy air defenses by preventing information from being transmitted between weapon systems and command-and-control networks. ACC Commander Gen. Mark Kelly said during a roundtable discussion at the Air and Space Forces Association’s Air Space and Cyber conference here that the EC-37B’s jamming capabilities will protect friendly ships and aircraft from enemy attack and allow them to get closer to their targets.
